You can apply for a pitch at one of the 3 permanent Gypsy and Traveller sites at:
- Water Lane, Clifton
- Outgang Lane, Osbaldwick
- James Street, York
It is important to apply for a pitch as we may issue a 'direction to leave order' for any
unauthorised encampments on public land.
In total, there are 61 individual pitches; most are big enough for 2 caravans and 1 or 2 vehicles.
Each pitch has its own service block which includes a kitchen area and bathroom.
There are regular visits from support workers who manage the site and help you when required.
When using a site you'll be expected to maintain your own pitch, including keeping the garden area clean and tidy.
You will be responsible for the general upkeep of the site and not causing any nuisance.
See Advice for Gypsies and Travellers about health care services and where to get independent advice while staying in York.
Please note that completion of an application does not guarantee acceptance of your application; or that an offer of a pitch will be made.
